I've wanted to share with you what I made for gifts for Mother's Day. I snapped a few photos of what I made before I wrapped up the gifts. I love bloggging and sharing with you but I've been pretty busy with my business so finding time to get to the computer has been difficult. I wish I could be like many of you who post daily, I just can't seem to find the time. We celebrated Mother's Day on Saturday. I made dinner for my mom and her husband, my in-laws, Aunt and my family. It's funny....Why on Mother's Day are all the moms doing the cooking! Here's one of the gifts that I made. Just a sweet little frame with a saying that I happen to love.
Many of you have seen my tiered platters that I make. I posted some of them HERE. I decided to start making some outside garden art to sell. Whenever I get one of these ideas to sell an item I like to try it out as gifts, to see how people like them. It's funny, that's exactly how I started my wedding cake business years ago. I made a few wedding cakes as gifts for my college roommates who were getting married and on a tight budget. It was a great advertisement, and a year later I had my own business. I did that for quite a few years, and then decided to try out something new. I started a custom drapery business. I made my own draperies and then some drapes for family, and before I knew it, it became a full time business!
So here are my latest items that I am selling. These were gifts for my Mother's Day guests.
I really enjoyed making these.
They are placed on a pole and go outside in the garden.
I like the green and gold combination. The cut glass really
sparkles in the sun light.
I wrapped them in some clear cellophane
and topped them off with a pretty pink bow.
I guess I'm frugal cheap. I can't bear to pay top dollar for a store bought card. I fumbled through all my paper stash and here's what I came up with for a handmade card. I printed off the saying on a piece of vellum. The flower was from a floral stem I ripped apart. What to see how to save some money by doing this.
Take a look HERE.
Here's a tip....I always decorate the envelope to match the card. I just rip a piece of scrapbook paper and glue it to the bottom of the envelope. I even do this if I am sending a card snail mail. It's fun to open the mailbox and see a splash of color and your card will surely get noticed.
You still have time to get in on the giveaway over at Funky Junk Interiors. If you missed my post check it out HERE and see what items you can choose from. This sweet Vintage Baby shoe is one of the items up for grabs.
Thanks for stopping by. I always enjoy you visiting and leaving a comment. I'll share with you on Saturday what I got for Mother's Day. It was my favorite color PINK.
and it had lots of bling and glam!

I wouldn't want to spend money on a card either if I could make them as pretty as you do, Sherry! Love the frame you made for Mother's Day ~ simple, elegant and a great gift.
Love these and the card is spectacular. I don't call it cheap, I call it thoughtful and very very smart.

You have done a great job. Making those cards by yourself is so creative of you. I would rather receive something that is hand make rather than purchasing.

Hi -- Those sparkling garden glass towers really caught my eye over at Trendy Treehouse Follow Me Friday! They are so beautiful. You wouldn't happen to have a tutorial on them, would you? I can just imagine how they look in the landscaping with the garden lights on them at night -- so gorgeous. You have a lot of great ideas on your blog and I'm looking forward to following you. I invite you to visit me and if you like, follow me in return. Have a great Friday!
Those are beautiful!!! But I have a very strong question here and maybe you can help. I've tried making glass decor similar to these you're showing us, but have had trouble with glue....what do YOU use?
My Show n Tell is my finished, newest, watercolor painting...I do hope you can stop by to view it and give me some critique!! Click HERE
