Birthday Creations...

Last week I promised I would share with you more of the birthday creations I’ve been busy making. In the past few weeks, I’ve had THREE 50th birthday celebrations. Here’s what I created for my friend Karen….

These dishes were the perfect color for her kitchen.

More of my glassware finds at the thrift stores.

I love the large bowl on the top.

 

The bowl is perfect to put vegetable dip in. I included a spoon to be used for the dip.

I embellished the spoon with a wonderful button and rhinestone. Just a hint of glam, don't you think?

I found this colorful ribbon and knew it would be perfect to add to my handmade card. It just screams Spring Time!

The flower and rhinestone were the finishing touches on the card.

This gift was for my friend Michelle.

She LOVES Red and has lots of gold accents in her kitchen.  Is this perfect or what?

This large mug works great to hold dip in.

I couldn't forget about adding a pretty spoon that I embellished.

I added a combination of glassware. The mug sits on top of a crystal ash tray and small parfait dish.

Did I mention that Michelle LOVES RED?  I had to wrap the gift with a  large pretty RED Polka dot bow. When I have a gift that has an odd shape and it's difficult to find a box for, I use cellophane and  always add a beautiful bow.

I made the matching gift bag. Inside the bag, I tucked a rooster tassel which I made.    

I Love to create these card for the special people in my life.

It has been wonderful sharing these special moments in life with me friends.

On the Hunt....New Garden Art Creations.....

I've been on a hunt the past month or so and I've had a blast.  Hunting you ask?  Oh yes, at each and every thrift store, Salvation Army and Goodwill  that my car passes while I am out and about.   I've been looking for any type of glassware.  Are you wondering what I've been doing with the boxes of items I have found during my search?  Well here is my newest CREATION.... 

It's outdoor garden art and it's my latest  avenue for creativity. These pieces of garden art can be placed on a steel pole and displayed in your garden.   Or if you choose, it can be placed directly on the ground.  This particular item was created for a good friend of mine, Amy.  Within the past week, I've had three birthday celebrations  to attend during the past week, so I thought I would make a few "Creations From the Heart".   Can you guess what the bottom plate was used for at one time?  Yep, it is a plate for deviled eggs!

What I love about making these is the creativity that it allows you to use.  No two are alike, so each design is a one of a kind gift.  My friend liked it so well that she is not putting it in her garden. She told me she has the perfect spot for her present inside her home. I think this would make a wonderful spring centerpiece.

Amy loves birds and earthy colors. When I ran across this precious bird while on "MY HUNT", I knew that I had to use it in the latest design.

Right before Mother's Day I have a few upcoming shows and I am going to be hosting a Spring open house at my home.   I think that they would make a wonderful Mother's Day gift.  I'm going to be busy creating lots of these.

Before I headed off to the birthday celebration, I wanted to wrap my gift extra special.  It was difficult to find a box to fit, so I used some cellophane to gift wrap the gift.

Don't you just love the BIG red polka dotted bow?

A matching handmade card finished off the gift.

Call me cheap thoughtful, I just can't stand the thought of a store bought card.

I love using this extra fine iridescent  shed on all my cards.  *Here's another card making tip.  Don't go to the scrapping store and buy those individually wrapped flower petals.  I go to Michaels and buy an entire bunch of flowers and take apart the individual petals.  Store them in a zip lock bag separating them by color.  I then use them on my cards and gift bags. By adding some shed and a rhinestone in the middle of the flower and you have a one of a kind look that is way cheaper!

I'm heading out again tomorrow to stock up on a few more items. You never know what I might find. Later this week I'll share with you what I made for the other birthday celebrations.  I will be posting this to some of these wonderfully cretive blogs....

My New Cable TV Show..."Fancy That"

I've been busting at the seams to share the news with you, but I had to wait until it was official.  My first episode of  "Fancy That" is now running on our local cable TV station.  It's been in the works for awhile, but after some delays it's now on the air.  I didn't even know that it aired, until I got a phone call from a friend asking for my autograph.  I asked "for what"?   She told me that while she was preparing dinner with her husband,  my face popped up on the TV!  What a HOOT.    Each monthI will be filming a new episode.  It's quite a production. The first episode took about 4 hours to film.  Partly because I didn't have a clue as to what I was doing.  This episode of "Fancy That"  is about taking an ordinary lampshade and making it into something extra-ordinary. 

Grab a cup a coffee and watch how easy it is to create a one of a kind lampshade...

Well after watching , I hope you will take one of your lampshades and  give it a whole new style.

Here's some photos of the finished lampshade.

I just love the fabric patterns as the light shines through the shade.  After I finished the lampshade and took some photos, I had wished that I had done the lampshade for myself.  The colors are perfect for my room.  I think I have enough fabric to do one for me...
I'll put that on my list of projects to do!

The center fabric I picked up at Hobby Lobby.  It was the perfect color for my client's bedroom.  I had recently made the window treatments and bedding for her master bedroom.  I just happened to mention that the lampshade could use a bit of embellishing.  Then I got an idea...Why not recover her lampshade for my fist show?

Here's the other patterned fabric.  It is a wonderful gold tone on tone.

The gimp trim and the scalloped trim were found at Jo Ann Fabrics.  A bargain at 50%  off.  I had to special order the beaded trim from one of my vendors.

I think every lamp in my house has a style of beaded trim.  I love the way it looks when the lights hit it.  It just adds a bit of bling and glamor. 

I hope you enjoyed the video and learned a few tips.  Don't be nervous to try and recover one of your lampshades.  It's easy to do and once your done, you'll be hooked!

A Creative Tablescape....

It's good to be back.  Three weeks ago the unthinkable happened.  My computer CRASHED!  All my photos and files for my blog posts are locked somewhere in my computer.  The Geek Squad has had my computer and have been unable to pull up my hard drive, so I have resorted to using another computer and I am back to posting.  I have lots to share with  you.  Some exciting things have been happening which I will share with you later in the week.  Today I'm joining in on "Table Top Tuesday".  I am a nut about hiding cords.  I can't stand to see them.  So I thought I would share with you my hallway table and how I concealed the cord from the lamp which sits on top of the table.

Here's the table before I started to add the accessories...

I knew I wanted a lamp on the table. When I was selecting a table to purchase, I wanted a table with a shelf on the bottom.  This would allow me to be able to add items to the shelf  which would help to conceal the cord from the lamp.  I added these wonderful containers with the bird on the top.  First step was to try and hide the outlet.

Next was to add a couple of old books I pick up at the thrift store.  I always look for black and brown books. These will allow me to stack items on top of them.

I had a  iron container, I had picked up on vacation last year.  I added some ivy, berries and  twigs to the container and it filled the area perfectly.  Next I used a round frame and printed off the letter "B" on  some scrap booking paper.  Last I added the large bird.    Before I started to work on concealing the cord, I added some treasured items I have collected to the top of the table.  Now, it was time to try and conceal the cord from the lamp.

I covered the part of the cord that would hang down below the table with a  matching piece of wallpaper from the hallway.  That way it would blend into the wall. ( Did I mention that I hate seeing cords?)

Take a close look, the lamp is now on the table and the cord is not that noticeable.  It blends in with the wall and with all the items on the shelf you can barely see it.

I adjusted the decorative containers to conceal the cord even more...  I can get kinda picky at times!

Isn't she sweet?  I added some of my favorite beaded garland.

This little candle was a gift from a dear friend who is just so thoughtful!  I love the simple word....
