O.k. Here's A Thrift Store Creation....

I promised I would share with you one of my creations from my thrift store finds. I made this for an auction prize for the Macomb Charitable Foundation's Harvest of Hearts Fundraiser.
It's a veggie and Dip bowl server... It's amazing what you can make out of a plate, cup & saucer and two sundae bowls.
I found these tiny spoons at a kitchen store and just embellished the spoon with a pretty pearl button. The spoon is perfect to use to serve the veggie dip.
I added this sweet little gift tag with a bow and button. Perfect for gift giving.
It's so much fun using found treasures to create something new. I can't wait to see who bids on this item at the auction.... Here are three links to stop by to see other thrifty ideas you may be able to re-create: Thrifty Thursday , Transformation Thursday and
Do it Yourself Day. That should keep you busy for a bit!
I also wanted to share with you two wonderful giveaways. Stop by Carol Anne's Boutique to see what she has posted and then pop over to Miss Molly Cottage and sign up for her giveaway. Wishing you a day filled with happiness and wonderful moments.

Pink Saturday...I'm Thrift Store Shopping.

I went thrift shopping this week and found some wonderful items for some projects for the up coming craft show and my Christmas open house. Many of the items I found were PINK. Let's celebrate PINK SATURDAY and let me share with you my new found treasures. I can't wait to start creating....
It was half off all houseware items at the thrift store. My cart was full to the top and all this for $30.00! What a deal.
Look at these pretty PINK dishes. I love this PINK tea pot. Can't wait to share with you the pin cushion I made out of it. This is soon to become another hand crafted transformation. I could spend hours searching for hidden treasures at the thrift store. "What is one man's trash is another man's treasure!" Boy do I believe that.
"How sweet the sound" has many people talking about the color PINK. Stop by and see all the eye candy. I almost have another project completed from my trift store finds. Stop by this coming week and I'll share it with you. Hope something PINK makes you smile today.
The world always looks brighter from behind a smile.

First Day of Highschool...Watch Out...

It's the first day of school today and I couldn't let this special event pass without a sign for my NEW high schooler.
It's my youngest son's first day of school in the 10th grade today. So last night I waited patiently for him to go to bed so I could put a sign together . I hung it in the perfect spot, so that it would be the first thing he would see when he came down for breakfast.
The day started early. The bus comes by at 6:30 a.m. You heard me right....6:30 in the morning. I guess my late night craft sessions will be ending. I can't go to bed at 3:00 a.m. and wake up at 6:00 a.m. Well, before my son ran out the door to catch the bus, I insisted that he smile for the camera. I wanted to have a photo so I could look back and remember today.
Once again today I was reminded of how quickly time passes and how fast our children grow. I can't wait till he gets home to hear how the first day of High school went! If it was your child's first day of school today, remember to get the camera out of the drawer and capture a photo of the day!

What a Wonderful Birthday Celebration.....

What can be more fun than celebrating your birthday one month after your birthday? My good friend Amy and I got together last week to celebrate my birthday which was in July. We have been friends for over 20 years and it's always an enjoyable evening when the two of us meet. She is my one friend who enjoys crafting and sewing as much as I do. One of our "hot spots" to meet is Joann Fabrics, but last week we met for dinner for the celebration. When I arrived at the restaurant Amy was seated right next to the fireplace (she knows that is my favorite table). The table looked like Santa had just arrived and left his bag full of goodies. So let me share with you what she had for me...
As you know I love aprons and Amy got me "The Perfect Apron" book. I'll share some photos with you during a later post. There are so many wonderful aprons pictured in this book.
I also love roosters and sewing so what could be more perfect than a rooster pincushion. Look at these wonderful pins that she made and the cute orange pom pom trim...

This is the cutest little apron. I have it displayed on an empty wine bottle. Someday when my sewing/crafting room is complete it will have a special home. It took Amy quite sometime to make this. It has so much detail. It was like sewing an apron for a Barbie doll. Her workmanship was just wonderful.

This little bookmark was part of the handmade card that my sweet friend made for me. I now have it marking a page in the current book I am reading. What a sweet way to be reminded of a dear friendship.

In addition to these gifts she got me a bike basket for my bike. I've been riding my bike and mentioned that I wanted to ride my bike to the grocery store. That's a true friend, she was listening to me and went and got me a basket that attaches to my bike to place groceries in. There was also a cozy pair of slippers. Only a friend of twenty years would know I love to wear slippers when I am at home. My life has been blessed with special friendships. What could be more wonderful. Hope your day is filled with happiness...

A PINK Thank You for PINK Saturday

Welcome to PINK Saturday... Lots of PINK to look at today at "How Sweet the Sound". I wanted to share a PINK pincushion creation that I made this week for a sweet friend. My friend Sharon is a wonderful faux painter and is currently helping me out on a project in my house. She does beautiful work and in the past has blessed me with her talents. I saw her this week and wanted to bring her a little "Thank You" gift. So here's what I came up with.
I knew that she does some sewing so I thought that she might
enjoy this teacup pincushion.
I recently found these tiny spoons and I knew they would be perfect to add to the pincushions. I embellished the spoon with a fancy button.

I wrapped My "Gift From the Heart" with a BIG PINK bow and delivered it to Sharon. It is such a blessing to me to have friends who are so giving of their time and talents.

Here are some wonderful PINK Saturday bloggers who are having giveaways..."The Creative Hare" is having an great apron giveaway, "Some Place in Thyme" is giving away a beautiful pincushion, "Happily Ever After" has lots of paper crafting items and "Pimp & Paint" is giving away a wonderful pendant that she created.

Hoping your weekend is filled with sunshine and happiness.

Getting ready for a Fall Nesting Makeover....

It's "Fall Nesting Week" at "The Inspired Room". Autumn is approaching quickly and it's time for a makeover. Many readers are sharing their fall decor. Stop by and see all the different ideas for “Fall Nesting”. Just in time for Fall decorating, Melissa at the Inspired Room is having a wonderful giveaway . She is giving away (3) $200 HomeGoods makeover shopping sprees. Yes, (3) $200.00 shopping sprees! It’s a giveaway that would be perfect for anyone who loves to shop at HomeGoods . That's Me. HomeGoods happens to be one of my favorite stores for home décor. There are so many wonderful items for any room of your house. Do you have a room that you have been wanting to decorate? I definitely have a room that is in need of a makeover. But before I show you that dilemma, let me share with you some fall decorations. Every fall I can’t wait to decorate for the autumn season. Here are a few photos of some of my fall décor that I have put out for the past few years…
(The "Give Thanks" was a gift last year. It was from HomeGoods).
This table is in the foyer right by the front door. These pumpkins were on clearance at the end of the season last year. I just added a little bit of gold paint to dress them up. Now they are ready to greet my guests...
Every season I decorate the front porch. Nothing says "WELCOME" more than a wonderful wreath on the front door....
Now what room in my house is in need of the makeover? It's my master bedroom. Since my master bedroom is on the second floor, no one ever sees it. The main level has been completely decorated. My master bedroom has not been touched!
Here is my inspiration photo. I went on HGTV “Rate my Space”. I love the colors used in the room. It's quite a different color pallet from the rest of my home. The entire lower level of my house is done in warm tones of gold, brick red, greens and black. I was looking for a change. A retreat, a place to get away and relax at the end of the day. These colors seem so soothing.

(Isn't' it just gorgeous...) Well here is my empty canvas.... I have the same type of tray ceiling and I even think my bed is the same as the inspiration room.

As you can see I have not decided on a paint color. There are three different colors on the wall. My husband thinks I lost my mind! The paint samples were only 2.98 and I thought it was well worth the investment.

Sample #1 is the same exact color as the inspiration room. It's from Benjamin Moore, the color is #HC-108 Sandy Hook Gray. I am leaning toward Sample #2 which has a bit less gray. Not by much, is a little bit more green. It's also Benjamin Moore color #1487 Herbal escape. The toile and plaid fabric hanging are what I planning on making the drapes and bedskirt out of.

Sample #3 is also Benjamin Moore, color #1482 Sabre Gray. It's in the gray family but I think it has to much of a blue tone. I am really leaning toward #2. I would love to know what you think. Leave me a comment.

Well paint is inexpensive, so I’m starting by painting the room. I have been holding onto a wonderful toile fabric for the window treatments. There are many other items that are needed before my dream bedroom makeover is complete. The Michigan economy has been hard hit and with money being tight right now, I am on a strict budget. Thank goodness I am quite handy. I am planning on doing all the painting and sewing, so there there will be no cost for labor. Just a little sweat and some elbow grease. I love doing work and won't the finished project be just wonderful. Wouldn't it be wonderful if I was one of the lucky winners that Mellisa from the Inspired Room chooses for a shopping spree. It would be great to go to my favorite HomeGoods Store and get everything else I need to complete my bedroom retreat. What a blessing that would be! If you're interested in finding out more about the HomeGoods Makeover shopping spree stop by HERE.

Fall will be here before you know it. Take some time to decorate your home for the Autumn season.

Welcome to the Rooster Party.....

Welcome to my house and the "Rooster Party".
Come on in.... I'm so glad you came to visit.
Most of the roosters are in the kitchen.
Just follow me.....
This glass front cabinet is located in my kitchen. I have the cutest white and black rooster placed right behind the glass.
I covered the inside of the cabinet with a wonderful wallpaper. It really made the items I was displaying POP.
Can you see the rooster on the middle shelf?
I just love the black and white polka dots....
This recipe book was a gift from my bible study that I host.
They know I love roosters!
This rooster was a great find in the clearance aisle at Michaels Crafts.
I couldn't pass it up.
Let's take a quick look at the laundry room....
I found this pair of rooster plates and I knew they would be perfect in this room. They make doing the laundry a much more enjoyable task!
Now back to the kitchen tour....
I just posted about this memo board. It was easy to make and there is a rooster right in the middle of the toile print.
Here's a closer look... This was the perfect fabric for my kitchen memo board.
I found this rooster at Pottery Barn about 5 years ago.
He has had a home in the kitchen ever since that day!
I made this rooster tassel to hang right above the memo board. A cute little rooster I painted black and just added some drapery trim and a pretty sheer ribbon and button to hang it from.
I added this large Swarovski crystal to hang from the bottom of the tassel. When the crystal catches the light from the tiny desk lamp it just glistens.
Another favorite rooster is perched on the bottom of the shelf of the bakers rack in the corner of the kitchen.
I love having this rooster on my island. I found this glass serving tray and added some ivy and berries around the rooster. Now he has the perfect spot in the kitchen.
The last rooster sits on top of the fridge. He has the best view in the house.
Thanks for stopping by and visiting today. I hope you've enjoyed the visit. I've enjoyed sharing my collection with you. Don't forget to visit Bella Vista. Grab a cold drink and your computer. There are over 199 blogs that are sharing their wonderful rooster collections. So many bloggers are Hooked on different things. As you can see I am "Hooked" on roosters. Once you visit Bella Vista stop by Hooked on Fridays to see what other bloggers are hooked on. Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
