I LOVE PINK...
So it was easy to select the colors of fabrics for the rag quilt I was making for my niece's baby shower gift .
They would be PINK.
I had also made the "Little Princess to Be",
this cute leopard coat that you can read about HERE.
This was a fun project to make and the Internet has lots of information about making a rag quilt.
Here's the finished project.
When you sew the quilt together
you leave all the seams facing outward.
Once you have finish sewing the quilt together it's time to through it in the washing machine and dryer
The edges fray when the quilt is washed and dried.
The edges fray when the quilt is washed and dried.
Can you see the frayed edges?
Here's a closer look at the finished quilt.
I purchased all the flannel at Jo Ann's.
I love the stripe and butterfly fabric.
They have silver glitter on them.
Every Baby Girl needs a bit of
BLING!
I lined the back of each square with a PINK polka Dot flannel.
I cut 35 blocks 8"x8".
There were 5 blocks across and 7 blocks down.
Boxed it up, and wrapped it up with some tissue.
PINK of course!
Hand stamped a little label.....
Handmade by Aunt Sherry....
I saved the best gift for last.
Later in the week I'll share with you the book
I made for my new niece.
"Baby's First 12 Months"
Here's a sneek peek...
Stop back to take a look at the entire book.
I'll be linking up to .....

What a beautiful little quilt. I love the colors.
Hi Sherry, this rag quilt is fabulous. The pinks are just perfect for a darling little girl. How sweet to make such a lovely gift of love. I made one in a Christmas tree pattern a couple of years ago. I never ragged it and I hang it above my fireplace wall every year. I show the back and I need to rag it huh!
Your 12 months book is beautiful too.
Hugs, Jeanne
This little quilt is so sweet!!
Hi, Sherry. I am new to your blog. The quilt is so lovely, your niece will use it and love it for years. I also watched your video of the lampshade (I still have to finish watching the second half). You do such a wonderful job! You seem so warm and kind. I was waiting to maybe see a "look at me! I'm wonderful and great" attitude (I have seen that on others' videos on their blogs!), but you are so gracious and down-to-earth. You are a pleasure to watch. AND you give a great tutorial. I will be back to visit! I just became your newest Follower too! ;)
Best regards,
Gloria
This is, without a doubt, the loveliest rag quilt I have ever seen! The seams are fluffy and frilly and look very soft to the touch. And you chose to make the seams wide enough that the rag edges are a true design element. Wonderful work!
What a beautiful baby book... I love it. I would love it if you could share with me the words, numbers, etc. Can't wait to see the rest. Thanks for sharing. Take care! Karen
I love it! I took a class years ago to learn how to make one of these rag quilts. I made my hsb one and he just loves it. Says its the best blanket he has ever had
Sherry,
Pretty as a picture and just in time! I have decided to make this rag quilt for my daughter who is having a girl mid June. I wanted to make something handmade and really girly! She will love this. I might try to make a pillow to match too. Quick question...Did you leave a 1/2" or 1" seam allowance for ragging? Your rag seams appear fuller and more frilly than others I have seen. Just really liked yours best for a little girl. Thank you so much and keep that creative spirit we all admire!
Cassandra
Beautiful quilt, could you tell me how much fabric you used? Thank you!
