Africa Dresses for Little Girls

How can one pillowcase touch a life in Africa?

It’s simple,
cloth a little girl in a dress made from that simple pillowcase.

That’s exactly what my Friday morning bible study decided to do!

Last Friday afternoon we spent the afternoon sewing some dresses.
Here’s some of the dresses….

We used pillowcases for some of them
and the others were made from my “Fabric Stash”.

There were four of us
and in that one afternoon we completed 8 dresses.

This one was a pillowcase I purchased at an estate sale.

Love the contast bottom fabric!

The pattern is SIMPLE.
HERE it is.

My Friends do not sew.
I showed them what to do and THEY DID IT!

Bias tape is used for the cute bow ties at the shoulders.

I loved this pillowcase that I found at the Salvation Army.

I cut the bottom off of the pillowcase
and added it to some  of my “Stash Fabric”.

The appliqués were hand sewn onto the pillowcase.

It was a great buy for $1.50!

All the dresses are ready to be shipped.

My hopes are that these little girls
will wear the dresses and know
that there are people they will never meet,
 who care about them.

Last Friday was a PERFECT day for me.

We studied God’s Word and then put His Word into practice…

Would you like to bring a smile to a little girls face.

Fruit of the Spirit Dish Gloves

I had a special request from a good friend for 18
of my "Fancy Smacie" Dish Gloves.

My motto is...
If you have to do housework
you may  as well look good doing it!

This was Linda's  last week for the bible study she was leading
 on "Fruit of the Spirit".
She wanted to do something special for the gals.
So why not FANCY dish gloves.
Last year I was in the study and you may recall the gloves I made.  Take a look HERE.
Linda's only  request  was that the fabric had to have fruit on it.
So off I went to find "Fruity" fabric!

Here's what I came up with...

 .
I didn't want to use the typical fruit fabric.
I wanted something bright that reminded me of spring time.

I love the PINK plaid fabric that I used for the yo-yos.
I think you know by now that PINK is my favorite color.
The fabric worked well with PINK dish gloves.
Gotta have a rhinestone for some BLING
 while doing the household chores.
So I added these MEGA teardrop rhinestones
to the center of the Yo-Yo.

I wanted to do something special for Linda,
so I decided to make matching gift bags for the gloves.

I had lots of scrap fabric
because I had to match the Fruit pattern on each glove.
I tore the fabric into strips and hot glued it to the bags.

The color combo was PERFECT !

I made a tag for each bag that had the verse from Galatians 5:22.
I added a little flower and a bit more BLING
 with another  rhinestone.

This Red and White polka dot ribbon went perfectly
and I had it in my STASH!

I had to try on a pair while doing some dusting.
It put a smile on my face.

The gloves were delivered and the last bible study was today.
Everyone seemed to enjoy their new
"Fancy Smancie" Dish Gloves.

These gloves are the perfect Mother's Day gift.
If you are interested in a pair with the matching gift bag,
 contact me.
.  The gloves and matching bag are $15.99 plus shipping.
I also have some fun styles in  my ETSY SHOP.

Bless Someone With Words of Encouragement....

Nothing touches a heart more than a kind word of encouragement. This weekend I received a wonderful gift that truly touched my heart. I host a bible study every Friday morning . We have a wonderful group who I consider dear friends. On Saturday morning my friend Shelly (from bible study) arrived at my house with a beautiful gift in hand. This beautiful PINK hydrangea plant.

Scattered throughout the blooms were encouraging bible verses, printed on pretty pink paper. It was absolutely beautiful. It as a gift from the bible study group. What an Easter blessing.

They all know I LOVE PINK
Did you notice the buttons and pink bows....

They selected these verses purposely for me.
Each of them touched my heart.

To my suprise, each bible verse had a gift card inside.  Can you believe it! It brought tears to my eyes to think that they had thought of me and created this wonderful gift just for me!

The gift got me thinking. I wanted to write some words of encouragement to my boys and husband.  Here's an idea that you can do for your family.  Easter Sunday before I prepared breakfast,  I typed out a little note to each of the "guys" in my life.  I decorated the note and place it by each of their plates.

Each card said,
"You Are A Blessing To Me Because..."

This was such a quick little thing to do, but it had such a big impact.  Each of the guys had a big smile on their face. Just a few simple words of encouragement can  be such a blessing.  It's something so easy we can do for those who we care about.
Sometimes the simplest of words can be priceless.  Hope this got you thinking about how you might send a word of encougagement to someone special.
Looking for other creative ideas?  Here's where I'm linking up to....
