A Pink Wreath for "Fancy That"...

 I Just finished taping the second episode of  the new local cable TV show I am hosting, "Fancy That".   

This is still quite new to me, and I have lots to learn but I am having a lot of fun doing it.  The show was all about dressing up your home's outside entrance.  I  demonstrated creating a
"One of a Kind" wreath and some spring door cans.

I started off with an ordinary grapevine wreath...

Worked some magic....

and the wreath was transformed from ordinary to

 EXTRA-Ordinary...

All those PINK flowers just shout out

"SPRING IS ON IT'S WAY".

I just love the  BIG PINK Hydrangeas.

I added a sheer wire edged ribbon bow.

Here's the door cans that I also made for the show. Beside hanging them on the outside of the door handle,  I like to hang a pair of  on the inside of my front door.  That way I can enjoy them when I am inside the house also!

I used a few different ribbons and some decorative buttons.

I ALWAYS have a wreath on my front door.  This is the wreath that I created and is hanging on my door right now.

I added this heart that hangs in the center of the wreath.

A simple message, that greets all my guests.

A Fall wreath that I created using all the colors of Autumn.

Here's a tip when using an artificial wreath for the Christmas season.  Use fresh Christmas tree greens and tuck them into the wreath.  Then your guests will never know that you used an artificial wreath.  Once the holiday season is over, remove the fresh greenery and store the wreath until next year.

Do you have a front door that is glass?

  Wondering how you can hang your wreath?

I have a solid glass front door. I use a large suction cup to hold all my wreaths. Make a hook in the back of the wreath using some floral wire and hang it from the suction cup. It works great!

Just a bit more PINK to share with you.  For the latest episode of "Fancy That"  I wanted to accessorize my outfit.  What better, than a wonderful spring time apron. I found the perfect PINK spring time fabric. I designed the apron to have lots of pockets to hold all my different tools I use in the workroom. Now, no more lost scissors! I'll know exactly where to find them.

Many of you have asked when the next episode of "Fancy That"  will air.  They are editing the episode I taped yesterday and  it should be ready this coming week. I will post as soon as it's available and then you too can  learn how to make a wonderful wreath that will welcome your guests this spring.

A Unique Birthday Card....

One of the many birthdays that we have celebrated these past few weeks has been my husbands. I think I mentioned that I am too sentimental cheap to go to the store. I can't stand the thought of spending five bucks on a card, especially if it is going to wind up tossed into a drawer or worse yet, in the trash. Last week while cleaning out the “junk drawer”, I found this gift card holder.  I was going to dicard it when  an idea flashed in my mind.  I set it aside to use for the perfect birthday card for my husband.

* If you don't have a gift card tin, you can purchase one at Michaels or Hobby Lobby .  They are located at the registers when you check out.  They also can be found in the same location at many grocery stores.  An Altoid's tin will also work.  It's just a tiny bit smaller.

I wanted to paint the lid so I used some fine sandpaper and quickly ruffed up the metal on the outside cover.
 

I grabbed a can of satin black pray paint from my stash and painted the lid.

I traced the shape of the box onto some 12x12 black cardstock.

I had to glue two sheets of the black cardstock together and then folded it like an accordion. I then cut out the paper to make the pages of the card.  

Next step was to start decorating the cover.  I live in a house with all men and it seems as if I NEVER get the opportunity to make anything girly!  I think girly things are so much easier and much more fun to do.  Don't get me wrong,  I love doing stuff for my boys and husband; I just find it more difficult to be creative.  I cut a piece of scrapbooking paper and glued it onto the cover.  I made sure to use my gold paint and embellish all the edges of the paper and lid.

I added a brown ribbon and a buckle holder to the lid.  I added the words "Now & Forever" to the buckle.

I love to add bible verses to my cards and this is a favorite.

  I thought this was perfect for my husband.  I wanted to reassure that God has wonderful plans for him.

  If you are ever in need of a bible verse and not sure of the exact wording, or what a verse for a specific topic stop by HERE it's a wonderful site.  I printed the verse out on vellum paper and then mounted the vellum onto some decorative paper.  I then added some "MANLY" buttons.  A loop of brown ribbon was attached so that he could pull the ribbon to open the card.

Here are all "MY Men".  This was such a wonderful memory and I thought it was perfect for the card.  They sure love their dad and I love them!

To add some finishing touches, I added some special words.

The last page has a small pocket with the word "Love" on it. 

This was the perfect spot for me to tuck a little

"Birthday Love Note" to my hubby.

 

He loved the card.  This is one card that didn't get thrown into a drawer.  He is proudly displaying it on his desk!

Next time you get a gift card  in a tin; think twice before you  toss it into the trash.  This one of a kind card could go from trash to something that will be forever treasured.

Birthday Creations...

Last week I promised I would share with you more of the birthday creations I’ve been busy making. In the past few weeks, I’ve had THREE 50th birthday celebrations. Here’s what I created for my friend Karen….

These dishes were the perfect color for her kitchen.

More of my glassware finds at the thrift stores.

I love the large bowl on the top.

 

The bowl is perfect to put vegetable dip in. I included a spoon to be used for the dip.

I embellished the spoon with a wonderful button and rhinestone. Just a hint of glam, don't you think?

I found this colorful ribbon and knew it would be perfect to add to my handmade card. It just screams Spring Time!

The flower and rhinestone were the finishing touches on the card.

This gift was for my friend Michelle.

She LOVES Red and has lots of gold accents in her kitchen.  Is this perfect or what?

This large mug works great to hold dip in.

I couldn't forget about adding a pretty spoon that I embellished.

I added a combination of glassware. The mug sits on top of a crystal ash tray and small parfait dish.

Did I mention that Michelle LOVES RED?  I had to wrap the gift with a  large pretty RED Polka dot bow. When I have a gift that has an odd shape and it's difficult to find a box for, I use cellophane and  always add a beautiful bow.

I made the matching gift bag. Inside the bag, I tucked a rooster tassel which I made.    

I Love to create these card for the special people in my life.

It has been wonderful sharing these special moments in life with me friends.

On the Hunt....New Garden Art Creations.....

I've been on a hunt the past month or so and I've had a blast.  Hunting you ask?  Oh yes, at each and every thrift store, Salvation Army and Goodwill  that my car passes while I am out and about.   I've been looking for any type of glassware.  Are you wondering what I've been doing with the boxes of items I have found during my search?  Well here is my newest CREATION.... 

It's outdoor garden art and it's my latest  avenue for creativity. These pieces of garden art can be placed on a steel pole and displayed in your garden.   Or if you choose, it can be placed directly on the ground.  This particular item was created for a good friend of mine, Amy.  Within the past week, I've had three birthday celebrations  to attend during the past week, so I thought I would make a few "Creations From the Heart".   Can you guess what the bottom plate was used for at one time?  Yep, it is a plate for deviled eggs!

What I love about making these is the creativity that it allows you to use.  No two are alike, so each design is a one of a kind gift.  My friend liked it so well that she is not putting it in her garden. She told me she has the perfect spot for her present inside her home. I think this would make a wonderful spring centerpiece.

Amy loves birds and earthy colors. When I ran across this precious bird while on "MY HUNT", I knew that I had to use it in the latest design.

Right before Mother's Day I have a few upcoming shows and I am going to be hosting a Spring open house at my home.   I think that they would make a wonderful Mother's Day gift.  I'm going to be busy creating lots of these.

Before I headed off to the birthday celebration, I wanted to wrap my gift extra special.  It was difficult to find a box to fit, so I used some cellophane to gift wrap the gift.

Don't you just love the BIG red polka dotted bow?

A matching handmade card finished off the gift.

Call me cheap thoughtful, I just can't stand the thought of a store bought card.

I love using this extra fine iridescent  shed on all my cards.  *Here's another card making tip.  Don't go to the scrapping store and buy those individually wrapped flower petals.  I go to Michaels and buy an entire bunch of flowers and take apart the individual petals.  Store them in a zip lock bag separating them by color.  I then use them on my cards and gift bags. By adding some shed and a rhinestone in the middle of the flower and you have a one of a kind look that is way cheaper!

I'm heading out again tomorrow to stock up on a few more items. You never know what I might find. Later this week I'll share with you what I made for the other birthday celebrations.  I will be posting this to some of these wonderfully cretive blogs....
