Gifting My Services...

I'm still in the process of packing away all the Christmas decorations. As I pack them away, I am finding it is time to organize all those areas of the house that have been overlooked through out the year. Do you find that you clean as you are putting away the holiday decorations?
On Sunday we went to my in laws house for dinner. I finally remembered to bring my camera so I could take some photos of their tree and mantle. I told you in a prior post about my idea to "gift my services" as Christmas gifts. I wanted to share some photos of the decorations I did for my in laws Christmas gift.
Here's the Christmas tree....
The tree is 11 feet tall. At first I wasn't sure about the color theme my mother-in-law had selected. Pewter, gold and white. I have always liked the traditional red and gold. When I completed the decorating I Loved It! It just sparkled. I used three different types of ribbon. In total I used 27 bolts of ribbon (each were 10 yards).
They love the traditional angel on top of the tree.
What's on top of your tree? I use a lighted star.
I used 150 gold bulbs. I purchased the unbreakable bulbs. I like using them, they are so much easier to store and they don't break if you drop them. I added silver glittered eucalyptus branches that I purchased from Michaels Crafts. They were beautiful, but the glitter was everywhere. I had it in my hair and on my face. It was quite messy.
See how they sparkle...
My mother-in-law had purchased the lights that I strung in front of the mantle. She had seen them in a catalog and wanted me to use it. I used the same items on the mantle garland as I did on the tree. I wanted them to match.
I added some glittered fern for some added sparkle....
Two other styles of beads were hung with the lights.
Next year if you want a new look for the holidays, try out this color combination. It will add a special twinkle to your room.
It has been fun sharing all my holiday decorations with you. It's kinda sad to pack the holiday boxes away. It looks bare around the house as I take the decorations down. Before we know it, the trees will be budding and the tulips will be breaking through the frozen ground. That's the wonderful thing...God always has something new in store for us. A new season is right around the corner.
May your day today, be filled with sunshine....
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:

The tree looked beautiful! What a wonderful gift to give to both of your parents. Did you do large loops with the ribbons and then bend a branch tip to secure the ribbons? It is just elegant!

I enjoy your posts!

I love the idea of "gifting" your services to others and I'm sure your family and friends love it, too! Everything looks just lovely, so festive and welcoming.

Very beautiful! We generally use the lace angel made by my great grandmother for a tree topper, but when my husband is deployed I do a red, white and blue tree and put the stuffed Army Bear he gave me one year as a tree topper. I'll have to take pictures next deployment. I'd never thought to do it before.
