Using Some Old Sewing Patterns....

During one of my recent trips to my favorite thrift store, I spotted a bin of sewing patterns. They were only 15 cents each. So I picked these up.
Most were outdated, but it got the wheels in my brain turning. What could I use these for? Remember, I said to think outside the box. I have been selling my aprons on My Etsy Shop and had one of my creations to ship out today. Instead of using ordinary tissue, I thought it would be a nice to wrap the apron in old sewing pattern tissue. I think it adds a nice touch.

Now that spring is here garage sales are a wonderful place to find inexpensive used sewing patterns. You don't have to be a seamstress to incorporate this idea. I am going to use this idea for all my hand crafted items that go in a box or gift bag. I am also going to use the tissue pattern as filler when I ship my Etsy items. I just think it adds a special touch. So before you through out those old patterns, set them aside and wrap up your next creation that you will be giving as a gift. It's sure to put a smile on someone's face.

I also wanted to share with you a great blog giveaway at Blissful Home. You can enter to win a sleep number mattress. You can enter Here. Nothing is better than a good nights sleep!
Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday...

A Pink Mother's Day Gift....For Pink Saturday....

Thought I would share a new creation, just in time for Mother's day. I Just posted the class on my blog Creative Lessons From My Heart. It's for a Mother's Day project. It's a wonderful fold out card and matching gift bag. When selecting the papers, I had to use the color PINK of course. PINK is so girly and reminds me of babies and Mothers. Since it's Pink Saturday, I though I would share my creation with you.

Being Creative with a Dollar Store Treasure.....

Do you love going to the dollar store? I am "HOOKED ON" going to the dollar store. It's amazing what you can find for a dollar! A few weeks ago I took a trip to the Dollar Store, just to browse the aisles and see what was new. I always go straight to my favorite section, the "frame aisle". When shopping, you must think "out side the box". I wanted to create a few thank you gifts for some people who have been kind enough to bless me with wonderful deeds over the past few weeks. When I entered the dollar store I had a set budget and a project I wanted to create. I picked these matted frames and off I went, with an idea to create!
When I arrived home, I could hardly wait to start working on the thank you gifts. I grabbed some scrapbook paper, my favorite gold paint, ribbon, buttons, and one of my "new finds" a crystal beaded garland. I searched for the perfect saying and I was ready to go. An hour later it was complete.
You would never know that this frame started off at the dollar store... The crystal beads add the perfect touch!
I made a matching gift bag to hold my new treasure. I'm going to be teaching a class on this project next month. This would make a wonderful gift for so many occasions. Next time you head on over to your local dollar store, take some time to just look around . Remember to be CREATIVE! Stop by "Hooked on Friday's" and see what other bloggers are HOOKED ON... The Perfect Combination Shoes & Sewings...

Well were back from vacation and it was wonderful to just get away and relax. No daily routine or worries, just BLUE skies and warm weather. It was a blessing to get away! It's been some time since I posted and I am going to try to be better about it. I'll have plenty to share with you as I start to plan and create things for my son Brandon's high school graduation. I don't want to wait to the last minute, because I want to enjoy every moment. Only 25 days left of school. It's hard to believe. These next few months have the calender filled with upcoming activities.
I few months ago I posted some of my wonderful finds from my favorite thrift store, "Rescued Treasures". I wanted to create some pincushions for my Etsy Shop. Since I am "Hooked On" Shoes and sewing I wanted to share with you two of my creations using these two favorite things of mine. Here's what I came up. I have to say that there are my favorites... If you like shoes and Sewing here is the perfect combination.....
Well before I could begin the pincushion, Shawnee left me a comment letting me know she wanted to purchase the flower pincushion once I completed the project. How sweet was that! I sent her a photo of both the pincushions once they were done and she wants both of them. So sorry, I won't be listing either on my Etsy. I was lucky enough to sell them both!
I love the leapord fabric I used for the pincushion. It adds a bit of bling to the vintage look of the shoe. The ceramic flowers are just a wonderful detail.
Here's the flower shoe with it's embellishments....
I added some old buttons to embellish the long dressmaker sewing pins I used... A bow made of different ribbons and buttons finished off the project. I hope Shawnee enjoys the pincushions. She is going to give the vintage shoe pincushion away as a gift. I plan on stocking up the Etsy Shop with some aprons and new pincushions for mother's day. I have a couple of baby shoes that I am working on this week. What a perfect gift for a new mom who loves to sew. Hope you go and enjoy the Spring weather today. Go do something that makes you smile. Pink Saturday...The Proverbs Woman

It's Saturday, so I have something PINK to share with you...
The bible study I am currently in, is called "Discovering the Treasures of a Godly woman". The entire study is about the Proverbs woman. It can be found in Proverbs chapter 31 in the bible. It's a wonderful study and has had me reflecting on so many things that I need to improve on. "She" is quite an example to try and follow! Next time you pick up your bible head on over to Proverbs and read about her. My friend Linda is leading the study. She wanted to give each of the ladies in the study a gift and asked me to make each of the girls a pair of dishgloves. She wanted to give them a gift for Easter. Well she left it up to me and I decided what would be better than PINK floral fabric for spring.
(Front row sitting far left, Linda)
Each of the dishgloves had a matching gift bag that had a bible verse from Proverbs 31.They loved them and everyone was giggling as they put them on. I couldn't pass up the photo opportunity to take a few pictures to capture the moment. Look at all those PINK gloves and how wonderful they look on all the ladies!
God has blessed me with many wonderful women in my life. Woman that I know I can count on to pray for me and lift me up when I stumble along life's path. What a blessing! Head on over to "How Sweet the Sound" and take a look at other PINK Saturday Posts.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend....
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; But a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, And let her works bring her praise at the city gate. Proverbs 31:30-31
